I wrote this blog for Thanksgiving Day last month whilst in the States. Just like Christmas in many Western countries, this holiday celebration in the US is traditionally linked to a festive meal with a roast turkey as centre-piece. The idea of having a Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner without a turkey is not even a consideration. But do you know what the cost of this is to the birds, the environment and our health?
